Stephen Broughton

Stephen was educated at Wyggeston School in Leicester and St Catharine's College Cambridge and has lived in Suffolk for over 30 years. He is a fair weather season Ticket Holder at Ipswich Town FC. He has completed 9 full marathons including London, New York and Berlin and countless half marathons including the Great North Run in 2006 and 2007.

Stephen sings bass in local choirs, including 6 performances at London's Royal Albert Hall and in 2011 at the Avery Fisher Hall in New York as part of the 9/11 Commemoration. He has produced and presented a number of Radio Programs on BBC Radio Suffolk, including 'Thought for the day' which he presented weekly since the station opened.

His autobiographical book 'Big Dick Little Dick' was published in 2006 and his CD 'words and music' was released in the same year. In 2011 he published 'Surviving Narcissistic Parenting.' He was a trustee of East Suffolk Mind for 25 years and was Community Service Chairman of Ipswich Round Table.

Stephen has 4 children, now off the family pay roll, the first 3 qualified respectively as a Solicitor (against his advice), a Doctor, and a Quantity Surveyor and the youngest recently graduated from Essex University. In a rather sad attempt to rekindle his failed 1960's career as a pop star with the blues band 'Smokestack' he is currently having guitar lessons.

He reached the pinnacle of his acting career in 2009 when he appeared as a skateboarding Nun in the New Wolsey Theatre Production of 'Desperate to be Doris'. In 2012 he appeared in 'When We Were Few' at the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds in a production attended by the author, Imogen Stubbs and in the same year in an RSC sponsored Production of Romeo and Juliet again at the New Wolsey Theatre.

Stephen qualified as a Solicitor in 1973 after training with City Solicitors, Travers Smith. Stephen manages the firm's office at Kesgrave, and has few problems finding people willing to pay for a personal service from a Solicitor with 40 years experience (and a sense of humour).
